Man, mother injured in gas cylinder explosion

Idukki: A man and his mother sustained injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at their residence in Kottarathil on Monday night. The injured were Justin Jose, 37, and his mother Jolly Jose, 62. The incident occurred around 9pm while the family was replacing an empty gas cylinder with a new one while cooking.The injured were initially rushed to Idukki Medical College Hospital and were later shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for further treatment. The explosion caused partial damage to the house. Justin’s father Jose was also present in the house at the time of the incident, but he escaped without injury.Fire and rescue services personnel reached the scene and secured the gas cylinder, while police also conducted an inspection and initiated further proceedings.
