A 38-year-old firewood shop owner was murdered in broad daylight in Miyapur on Sunday, allegedly over a long-standing business dispute with neighbouring shopkeepers.
The victim, identified as Srinu, had been running his firewood shop opposite Hafeezpet Railway Station for the past five years. The incident was reported between 1.30 p.m. and 1.50 p.m. on Pipeline Road near Gopalnagar.
Police said Srinu was found with grievous injuries and was shifted to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Preliminary inquiries suggest that he had been attacked due to business-related disputes with other shop owners in the area.
Investigators have identified a man named Shahil and others as suspects in the case. The accused are currently absconding, and efforts are on to trace them.
A murder case has been registered by the Miyapur police and further investigation is underway.
