A traditional ceremony of Kuan Poojan in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district descended into chaos on Saturday when celebratory gunfire injured two women. The incident, which unfolded to the beats of the song “Goli Chal Javegi”, was caught on camera and has gone viral on social media.

Around midnight at the home of Kallu Ahirwar, folk dancers were performing when a young man from the crowd, identified as Amit Ahirwar, pulled out an illegal country-made pistol and fired a bullet in the air. The bullet struck two women, 21-year-old Radha and Rama, injuring them in the legs.

The celebration quickly turned into panic with people rushing to help the injured. The women were taken to Nowgong Hospital in Madhya Pradesh and later referred to Chhatarpur for further treatment.

A video of the firing, showing the moment of the chaos, has surfaced online and sparked outrage over the misuse of firearms during public functions.

Police registered a case against Amit Ahirwar after receiving a complaint from the father of one of the victims. The accused is currently absconding and efforts are being made to arrest him.

Police officials have warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in celebratory firing, especially during public and religious gatherings.
