BHOPAL: A 44-year-old man has been booked for allegedly raping and sexually exploiting a 43-year-old woman on the pretext of marriage.The woman said that the man took her to a hotel on the pretext of a meeting and raped her in 2023.
She added that when she protested, the man promised to marry her. She further alleged that the man continued to sexually exploit her over the following months.Police said the woman later distanced herself from the man, following which he allegedly began harassing her. Police on Monday registered a case of rape against the man.
Man held for raping girl on marriage promise
A 24-year-old man was arrested after a 23-year-old girl accused him of raping her on multiple occasions on the pretext of marriage after befriending her through social media.
Police said the complainant alleged she came in contact with the man through a social media platform.The woman told police that in May 2025, the man called her to meet near a hotel. She alleged that he forcibly took her to a room in the hotel and raped her. When she resisted, he allegedly assured her that he would marry her.She further alleged that he continued to sexually exploit her till Nov 2025 on the promise of marriage.
The man later refused to marry her, prompting her to file a complaint.
Woman posts video of biker passing obscene comments, man held
A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly passing obscene remarks at a young woman on the road in the city after cops took cognisance of a video, posted by the woman, that went viral on social media.According to police, the incident came to light after an approximately 25-year-old woman uploaded a video on Instagram on Monday night, alleging that a youth on a bike had made obscene comments at her while she was passing through the area.He was traced and arrested. Police records show that the man has one previous criminal case registered against him at a police station in Sehore.(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
