Man’s suspicion over wife’s character ends in double murder

Ballari: A 29-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife and father-in-law to death following a dispute triggered by his suspicion about his wife’s character at Guggarahatti in Ballari city on Tuesday.According to police, the accused, Teju, a dhobi by profession, frequently quarrelled with his wife, Nagalakshmi, over suspicions regarding her character.In an attempt to resolve the dispute, Nagalakshmi’s father, Srinivas, 48, visited the couple’s house on Tuesday. During discussions between the family members, an argument reportedly broke out, following which Teju allegedly attacked Nagalakshmi and Srinivas with a knife.Both sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot, police said.Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) Dr Harsha PS, who visited the scene, said the accused, Teju, and his father, Gurushankar, had been arrested in connection with the incident.A case has been registered at APMC police station, and further investigation is under way, he added.Police are probing the circumstances that led to the assault and the role of those arrested in the case.
