Bhopal: A young man allegedly set himself on fire at a finance office in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district on Friday after an argument over a seized car. The branch manager also suffered burns while trying to save him.The incident took place at a private finance company office in the Makronia area of Sagar. Police said Nilesh Kumar Jain, a resident of Jaisinagar, had financed a car through the company. The vehicle was allegedly seized in Damoh due to two pending loan installments.On Friday afternoon, Nilesh reached the office to seek the release of the vehicle. An argument reportedly broke out between him and company staff over the matter.During the altercation, Nilesh allegedly poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze, triggering panic inside the office. Employees rushed to extinguish the flames. The branch manager sustained burn injuries while trying to rescue him.Nilesh suffered severe burns and was first taken to Bundelkhand Medical College. He was later shifted to a private hospital due to his critical condition.Family members alleged that the company had been pressuring him for nearly 10 days despite only two installments being due. They claimed representatives had repeatedly visited his house and said the pending amount had already been deposited on Thursday.A preliminary police investigation points to a dispute related to vehicle financing.
