Man shot dead by friends in Nalanda

In a shocking twist during what was meant to be a joyous wedding celebration in Nalanda, 25-year-old Rahul Kumar's life was cut short when he was allegedly shot by friends he trusted. His body was discovered near a temple, prompting a swift police response.

Biharsharif: A 25-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his friends at Sadarpur village under Bind police station area in Nalanda district on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Mukesh Kumar.

Rahul, a decorator, had got married just six days earlier on April 20.According to Rahul’s brother, Kundan Kumar, he had dinner with the family and went to sleep around 9pm on Saturday. Later in the night, two of his friends — Gaurav Kumar and Shunti Kumar, both residents of the same village — called him outside and persuaded him to accompany them for fishing in the nearby Jirayin river. Rahul left home with them shortly thereafter.At around 3am on Sunday, the accused allegedly informed the family over the phone that Rahul was dead. Alarmed relatives immediately informed the police and rushed to the spot, where Rahul’s body was found lying in a pool of blood near Surya Mandir, about one kilometre from his house.A police officer at Bind police station said Rahul was shot in the head and died on the spot. The body was sent to Biharsharif sadar hospital for post-mortem.

Confirming the incident, Biharsharif Sadar SDPO Nurul Haque said bloodstains and the victim’s slippers were recovered from the spot. The reason behind the murder is not known yet.“An FIR has been registered on the basis of a written complaint filed by the victim’s father. We are investing the matter from all angles and raids are on to arrest the accused, who are absconding. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team has also collected evidence from the spot,” he said.
