Patna: A 28-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his friend in Fatuha police station area of Patna early Thursday following a dispute over an alleged personal issue. He was first taken to a local hospital in a critical condition and later shifted to a private hospital in Patna, where he died during treatment, police said.According to the police, the deceased was identified as Naveen Kumar (28), son of Shravan Paswan and a resident of Naya Tola in Dariyapur. On receiving information, police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police said Naveen had gone to a vacant plot with four to five friends on Wednesday night. During the probe, investigators recovered food items and utensils from the spot, indicating that the group had gathered there for a night camp.Preliminary findings suggest an argument might have broken out among the group, following which Naveen was shot in the neck from close range. He collapsed on the spot, while the assailants fled. Hearing the gunshot, local residents and family members reached the spot, which was close to his house, and rushed Naveen to Fatuha sub-divisional hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
The family later shifted him to a private hospital for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.Rural SP Kundan Kumar visited the spot with his team and reviewed the investigation. A forensic team was also called to collect evidence.Fatuha SDPO-I Awadhesh Kumar said, “The motive behind the murder has not been established and the victim’s family is yet to file a written complaint. Further legal action will be taken after the complaint is received. Efforts are on to arrest those involved in the crime.”Fatuha SHO Shrimant Suman said the body has been sent for post-mortem. Investigators are probing all possible angles, including personal enmity and a financial dispute.
