After a video showing a man slapping a fellow passenger aboard an IndiGo flight went viral, the passenger who was slapped went missing.

Identified as Hussan Ahmed Majumdar, a resident of Assam’s Cachar district, allegedly suffered a panic attack while aboard IndiGo flight 6E138 (Mumbai-Kolkata).

He demanded to be allowed to deboard. As the cabin crew members were helping him deboard the flight, he was suddenly slapped by a fellow passenger.

The attacker, identified as Hafijul Rahaman, was detained by security personnel upon arrival in Kolkata and handed over to the police.

According to a report by NDTV, when his family, not aware of what has happened on the flight, reached the Silchar airport, they couldn’t find him.

They saw the video of the incident that went viral, and tried contacting him.

His family tried to contact him after seeing the viral video, but his phone was switched off, said his father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar, according to a report by NDTV.

A missing complaint was filed, and police found he hadn’t taken the flight to Silchar or left Kolkata airport. He was later located at Barpeta railway station, appearing unwell. Authorities are now escorting him home.

IndiGo Reacts

Meanwhile, following the incident, IndiGo issued an official statement and said,"In line with our commitment to discourage such unruly behaviour onboard flights, the individual (assaulter) has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights, in accordance with regulatory provisions."

“At IndiGo, the safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our foremost priority," it added.
