Hyderabad: A brutal assault was reported in Kushaiguda, where a woman was seriously injured after her live-in partner allegedly attacked her and cut her tongue with a knife following a dispute at their residence.According to Kushaiguda SI Satish Kumar, the victim, a 50-year-old woman identified as Sujatha, a daily wage labourer from the Kushaiguda area, had been living alone since the death of her husband nearly ten years ago. Her daughter and son are married and living separately. About six months ago, Sujatha became acquainted with a man identified as Naveen. Their relationship later developed further, and the two had been living together in the same house with mutual consent for the past six months.Police said differences had recently arisen between the couple over personal matters. In the early hours of Saturday, an argument reportedly broke out between Naveen and the woman at their residence. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a heated fight.During the incident, Naveen allegedly became enraged, picked up a vegetable knife from the house, and slit her tongue. After the attack, the victim collapsed in a pool of blood while screaming for help, and the accused fled from the scene.
Hearing her cries, local residents and neighbors rushed to the house and found the woman critically injured. They immediately shifted her to Gandhi Hospital for emergency treatment.Doctors performed emergency surgery and managed to save her life. Hospital authorities stated that the victim is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU and is recovering steadily.Following the incident, the victim’s daughter Ammulu lodged a written complaint at the Kushaiguda police station. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Naveen under sections related to attempt to murder and grievous hurt.Kushaiguda SI Satish Kumar said a special police team has been formed and search operations are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding accused.
