Man stabbed on moving Mumbai local train over seat dispute, 2 held

MUMBAI: A 26-year-old man was allegedly stabbed and assaulted by a group of youths on a moving Mumbai local train following an argument over a seat in the luggage compartment. Two accused were arrested within hours of the incident, while police launched a search for another suspect.The incident took place on Thursday morning aboard a train travelling from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Khopoli, officials said.The victim, identified as Satish Kumar Bolamani Pathak, a resident of Masjid Bunder, sustained serious injuries in the attack and is undergoing treatment.According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the altercation broke out after the train crossed Vangani station.

Pathak allegedly got into an argument with a group of youths over a seat in the luggage compartment.The dispute soon escalated into a physical fight, during which the accused assaulted Pathak. One of the attackers then stabbed him in the stomach with a knife, PTI reported.Based on a tip-off, Karjat GRP arrested Imran Idris Ansari (18), a resident of Neral, and Karan Kanhaiyalal Agrawal (22), a resident of Shelu within 12 hours of the incident.Efforts are underway to trace and arrest another accused involved in the attack.
