Gorakhpur: A 28-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his cousin and three associates in Gorakhpur’s GIDA area after suspicions of an illicit relationship, police said on Monday.
Four accused have been arrested and a case of murder was registered.The victim, Vijay Pal of Bangaon village, worked as a painter in Bengaluru and returned home around a week ago. On Sunday night, as a wedding procession was underway in the village, his cousin Vinay approached him and asked him to accompany him to the function, family members said.Instead of taking him to the wedding venue, Vinay and the others allegedly led Vijay to a brick kiln on the outskirts of the village.
There, they allegedly forced him to consume alcohol and then attacked him with knives, inflicting multiple stab wounds. Despite the injuries, Vijay managed to flee the spot and reached a nearby road, where he raised an alarm.Villagers and relatives rushed to him and took him first to a community health centre. He was later referred to the district hospital and then to BRD Medical College, where he died during treatment.
Investigators said the killing was allegedly sparked by Vijay’s frequent conversations with Vinay’s maternal aunt, which led to suspicions of an inappropriate relationship. Police said Vinay and the aunt’s son were aware of the interactions and allegedly planned the attack.Circle Officer Yogendra Singh said all four accused, including Vinay and the aunt’s son, were being questioned.
