A 35-year-old man stabbed his elder brother to death over a marital dispute at their residence at Mylasandra Begur in Electronic City on Friday.
The incident occurred around 10.30 p.m., when the accused, identified as Anthony Raj, allegedly attacked his elder brother Yesu Balaraju with a knife following an argument related to his estranged wife.
According to the complaint, Raj, an alcoholic, had been living separately from his wife for the past two years and was undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation centre due to mental health issues. His wife left him and married another man, leaving their two children with the grandmother.
He reportedly returned home about 20 days ago and frequently picked quarrels with family members over his marital problems.
On the night of the incident, Raj allegedly picked up a knife and attempted to stab Balaraju accusing them of being responsible for the separation. Despite efforts by the family members, the accused stabbed Balaraju multiple times, before fleeing from the spot.
The family members called for an ambulance, but Balaraju died due to excessive bleeding.
Based on the complaint filed by Lurd Mary, their mother, the police have registered a case and efforts are on to track him down.
