Manchester United turned Old Trafford into more than just a football stadium this week.
In collaboration with their Muslim Supporters Club (MUMSC), the 13-time Premier League champions hosted a fan Iftar at the Theatre of Dreams, marking a powerful moment of community during Ramadan.
A charity auction was also held to support a Ramadan fundraising campaign, with the club sharing highlights of the evening on its official X account.
The 2026 edition carried special significance. For the first time in the club’s history, the Adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, echoed across the stands of Old Trafford.
Supporters broke their fast as the call rang out, followed by Qur’an recitation and congregational prayers led by English reciter Ibrahim Idris.
CEO, Players and Community Leaders Come Together
The evening opened with Manchester United CEO Collette Roche introducing Asif Mahmud, chairperson of MUMSC. A Sheikh from Cheadle Mosque delivered a spiritual talk on the meaning of Ramadan, emphasising reflection, gratitude and unity.
After additional prayers, attendees broke their fast with dates before enjoying sweet cones, croffles and a halal buffet. The event concluded with further Qur’an recitation and the charity auction.
First-team defender Noussair Mazraoui, present at the gathering, spoke about what the occasion meant.
“I’m proud to be here and to be part of this community and club with these fantastic people. I was at the first Iftar last year and this is huge. We, as a team, will give everything to make you proud both during Ramadan and outside of Ramadan too."
Academy coach Imran Hamid, a UEFA B Licence holder and Premier League “No Room For Racism" Icon nominee, also addressed the crowd.
“It is a blessing that some first-team players came and shared their experiences. I hope that some of the children here today will one day become first-team players and speak at future events."
Mahmud underlined the broader message: “Hosting Iftar at Old Trafford is incredibly meaningful for Muslim supporters. It sends a powerful message that Manchester United is a club where everyone belongs."
United currently sit fourth in the 2025–26 Premier League table.
