Man uses phone while refuelling, bike suddenly catches fire at MP petrol pump; CCTV footage goes viral

A potentially dangerous situation at a petrol station in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district was brought under control in time, thanks to the quick response of the staff present at the spot.

A CCTV clip of the incident, which took place in Chitakheda village, is now circulating widely on social media and drawing attention to safety practices at fuel stations.

Panic at the pump

The footage shows a man standing with his bike while refuelling. According to reports and social media posts, he appears to be using his mobile phone, although the visuals are not very clear. Suddenly, flames erupt near the bike’s fuel tank, triggering panic at the petrol pump.However, the staff acted without wasting a moment. One employee quickly pushed the burning motorcycle away from the fuel dispenser to avoid the flames spreading. At the same time, others rushed in with fire extinguishers and began controlling the blaze.Within a few minutes, the fire was brought under control. As reported by NDTV, no injuries were reported, and the petrol pump itself did not suffer any damage.

What might have triggered the fire

After the video began circulating online, many viewers assumed the fire might have started because the man was using a mobile phone while refueling.

However, such incidents can happen due to several other reasons as well.

Factors like heat from the bike’s engine, a buildup of static electricity, or even a small electrical spark can sometimes trigger flames in places where fuel vapours are present.
