A man with a significant criminal past, Sunil Kumar, was fatally shot in Patna's Phulwarisharif area. Having recently secured bail, Kumar was targeted in his colony, with police suspecting old enmity as the motive. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and have taken two individuals into custody for questioning as a special investigation team probes the incident.
Patna: A 36-year-old man with criminal history was shot dead in Phulwarisharif area on Friday morning.The deceased, identified as Sunil Kumar, had more than a dozen cases against lodged against him and was recently released from jail on bail.
The killing appeared linked to some old enmity, police said.Sunil, son of Mohan Yadav, was a native of Samanpura in Naubatpur police station area. He was living in a rented accommodation in Vikas Vihar Colony under Phulwarisharif police station area.According to the police, the criminals fired on Sunil while he was standing in the colony. He died on the spot.City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said, “The assailants fired around four rounds at Sunil.
The CCTV installed in the area is being scanned to identify the attackers. Four empty shells were recovered from the spot. Prima facie it appears Sunil was killed for revenge or due to an old enmity. More than a dozen cases, including murder, dacoity, loot and Arms Act, were lodged against him.”The SP said a special investigation team was formed under the supervision of Phulwarisharif SDPO-1, Sushil Kumar, to probe the case.The forensic team collected evidence from the spot for further investigation. The call details of the deceased are being tracked to identify the suspects. Two persons were taken into custody for questioning, the SP said.
