The work on the Mananchira–Malapparamba road, which began in mid-June, is progressing rapidly, with strengthening and levelling of the acquired properties currently under way. At the current pace, the four-laning work is expected to be completed before February 2026. Meanwhile, preparations are being made to construct a flyover at Eranhipalam, the busiest junction on the stretch.

The 5.32-kilometre road, developed under the Kozhikode City Road Improvement Project, is part of the proposed Mananchira–Vellimadukunnu Road. The remaining stretch from Malapparamba to Vellimadukunnu will be developed as part of National Highway 766 from Kozhikode to Kollegal. The road is being widened to 24 metres to accommodate four-lane traffic. At present, two-metre-wide drains are being constructed on both sides of the road. These drains will also carry the cable duct.

In some parts of the acquired land, the soil quality is poor. To address this, the base is being reinforced with laterite soil brought in from other areas. The demolition of existing buildings, the felling of trees, and ground levelling on the acquired land are nearly complete.

The redesigned road will feature a two-metre-wide median in the centre with 8.5-metre carriageways in both directions. The median and road shoulders will be beautified with lawn grass and flowering plants.

Land acquisition is complete across the stretch, except for a small plot at Eranhipalam, which is under litigation. The proposed 30-metre-wide flyover at Eranhipalam will extend between the post office and Chulliyod Road junction.
