Many parts of Shivamogga district receive rains

Several parts of Shivamogga district received moderate rainfall, accompanied by lightning and thunder on Sunday, offering much-needed relief from the scorching heat.

The sudden downpour, which began with lightning and thunder around 5:30 p.m., caught the weekend shoppers off-guard as they crowded the markets ahead of the Ugadi festival this week. Some people unfurled umbrellas, while others were forced to look for temporary shelter.

The rain that continued for more than an hour caused waterlogging on several city roads and hampered traffic. The motorists had a tough time riding during the rains.
