The Excise officials in Sangareddy seized 122.85 kg of dry marijuana and arrested two men on Monday while conducting vehicle checks near IIT Hyderabad.
Acting on reliable information, officials intercepted two hatchback cars at the junction gate in Kandi mandal. This was done as a joint operation by the District Task Force (DTF) and Sangareddy excise station team.
On inspection, they found 69.5 kg of marijuana in one vehicle (AP35 AE 5979) and 53.3 kg in the second vehicle (AP39 GR 5014). Two mobile phones and the cars were seized.
The accused, identified as Umakant Sabhar from Odisha and Abdul Wahab Syed from Beed, Maharashtra, were allegedly transporting the contraband from Odisha to Maharashtra. Both were taken to the Sangareddy Excise Station for further action.
