A large-scale awareness rally was organised in Kalaburagi on Monday to educate the public about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls 2026.

The programme was jointly organised by the Election Commission of India, the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, the district administration and the District SVEEP Committee.

Inaugurating the rally, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Sankanur said that the campaign’s objective is to ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the electoral rolls and to create awareness about the revision process scheduled from June 30 to July 30.

He said that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits during the exercise to distribute enumeration and declaration forms and stressed that accurate voter lists are essential for strengthening democracy. He urged citizens to ensure their names do not go missing from the electoral rolls.

Officials also cautioned the public against misinformation circulating on social media regarding the revision process and appealed for active participation in verifying and updating voter details.

As part of the campaign, a walkathon was arranged from Jagat Circle to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Participants carried placards and raised slogans to spread awareness about SIR 2026.

District and taluk-level officials, SVEEP representatives, NSS volunteers, self-help group members, BLOs and students from various educational institutions participated in the programme.
