Fire in factory at Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A massive fire broke out at a chemical manufacturing factory in Bommasandra Industrial Area near Hebbagodi Sunday evening, triggering panic and sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky.
No casualties were reported, though the blaze remained uncontrolled till 9.30pm.Fire and emergency services personnel received information around 5.10pm about the blaze at Divya Importers, a factory that manufactures acid, thinner, and other industrial chemicals. The unit is owned by Harinath, a resident of BTM Layout.According to preliminary information, the factory employs more than 20 workers. However, as the unit was closed for its weekly Sunday holiday, no employees were inside when the fire broke out, averting a major tragedy.
A security guard was stationed outside the premises.Firefighters rushed to the spot with three water bowsers and a water tanker, and worked to contain the blaze while preventing it from spreading to neighbouring industrial units. Hebbagodi police assisted in the emergency response.The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
