Russia launched one of its biggest aerial assaults on Kyiv since the war began, firing over 700 drones and missiles, including the hypersonic Oreshnik missile, after Moscow vowed retaliation for recent Ukrainian strikes inside Russian-controlled territory.
Ukrainian officials said at least four people were killed and more than 80 injured in the overnight attack, which damaged residential buildings, schools, warehouses and other civilian infrastructure across Kyiv and nearby regions. Explosions were reported across the capital as residents took shelter in metro stations and underground bunkers.
