Jean-Philippe Mateta has told Crystal Palace he wants out.
According to BBC Sport, the France striker, who has 18 months left on his contract, has no plans to extend his stay at Selhurst Park and is actively eyeing the next step of his career, preferably within the January transfer window, amid growing interest from England and Europe.
Palace value the 28-year-old at around £40 million, and the decision now rests with the club as internal talks continue over whether to cash in or hold firm.
Aston Villa and Juventus have both made exploratory approaches, while Manchester United have also registered early interest as they looks to strengthen their forward line.
No formal bids have been lodged yet, but conversations remain open.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner admitted last week that the club would be willing to sell — at the right price.
“There will be a price where Crystal Palace say, ‘18 months left, we do the deal if JP wants,’" Glasner said. “If nobody pays it, then JP will stay."
Mateta, who has recently broken into the French national team setup, believes now is the right time to move. His ambition is clear: he wants to play for a club competing for trophies.
For Palace, the timing could hardly be worse. The club has already lost Eberechi Eze to Arsenal and Marc Guehi to Manchester City, leaving Glasner’s squad stripped of key talent and short on star power.
Selhurst Park officials are weighing their options carefully, aware that selling Mateta could further weaken a side already reeling from a turbulent campaign.
Glasner, who has confirmed he will leave at the end of the season, publicly blasted the club’s recruitment strategy following Saturday’s defeat to Sunderland, claiming the team had been “abandoned" in the market.
That loss came shortly after Palace were dumped out of the FA Cup by non-league Macclesfield — one of the competition’s biggest shocks.
