A lunch outing in Lucknow has now turned into a police matter after diners claimed they found meat in a vegetarian thali they had ordered at a restaurant in Gomti Nagar. As reported by NDTV, the incident happened at House of Royals.
Hemant Kumar Singh from Prayagraj had come to the restaurant with 14 others, and the group decided to stop there for lunch.
They ordered the restaurant’s “Deluxe Veg” thali, expecting a fully vegetarian meal.
Meat found in veg thali
When the food arrived, the situation unexpectedly changed. While going through the meal, the diners noticed something unusual in one of the plates. As mentioned in the NDTV report, they claimed the thali had a piece of meat along with a small bone.
The discovery left them shocked, especially because they said they had ordered vegetarian food due to personal and religious reasons.
Diners raise concern
The diners said they told the restaurant staff about the issue as soon as they noticed it. However, they later felt that the restaurant staff did not take their concerns seriously, which further aggravated them.
FIR registered
According to the NDTV report, the police have now registered an FIR and started investigating the matter.
Concerns over food handling
The incident has once again brought attention to how carefully restaurants handle vegetarian and non-vegetarian food in their kitchens. For many people, vegetarian food is not just a preference but something connected to personal belief and faith.Because of this, even a small mix-up can quickly upset customers. It also highlights why restaurants need to be extra careful while preparing and serving meals, especially when diners clearly ask for vegetarian food.Thumb image: Canva (for representative purposes only)
