Fifteen couples reunited after burying their differences during the mediation proceedings at the family court and subsequently exchanged garlands to mark their reconciliation in Dharwad on Saturday.
In all, 55 cases of marital disputes were resolved through mediation at the family court in Dharwad on Saturday.
Family members and court staff welcomed the development and wished the reunited couples.
Principal District and Sessions Judge N.V. Vijay said that the couples agreed to live together ironing out their differences and returned home happily.
Family court judge Nagarajappa A.K. said that some of the couples had been living separately for over five, 10 and even 16 years. In another case, a couple which had separated just three months after their marriage was also counselled and reunited, he said.
He said that the initiative received support from advocates in Dharwad and the Principal District and Sessions Judge following which 15 couples reconciled.
