Medical aspirant found dead in Ghaziabad home 2 days before NEET retest

Ghaziabad: A 22-year-old medical aspirant was found dead at his residence in Pratap Vihar on Friday morning, two days before the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test on June 21.Police recovered a video from his mobile phone, apparently recorded shortly before his death, in which the youth said he had grown weary of the exam cycle.The deceased, Jatin Kumar, had been preparing for the NEET UG examination for some time. His family told police he had been pacing in his room until midnight, after which other members of the household retired for the night. He was found unresponsive on the floor when family members went to wake him the following morning.His brother Lalit Mohan contacted Dial 112 at 8.15am. Teams from Vijay Nagar police station and forensics unit reached the spot shortly after and conducted an on-site investigation.

The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination.ACP Nagar Kotwali Upasana Pandey said the video recovered from Jatin’s phone, timestamped around midnight, appeared to have been recorded before his death. In it, Jatin said his father had often advised him not to take stress, and that he himself was not under pressure, but that he had become tired of the process and wanted to do something different.The National Testing Agency had cancelled the May 3 entrance exam following allegations of a paper leak and other examination irregularities.
