Medical colleges will be established in each district in the State, says Minister

Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development Sharan Prakash Patil has said that the State government intends to establish medical colleges in each district, and in the first phase, Ramanagara and Bagalkot districts will soon get such colleges.

Inaugurating the 30th annual conference of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists — Karnataka Chapter ( IAMM-KC) here on Saturday, the Minister said presently 24 medical colleges were functioning in the State. “However, I have an aim to establish such colleges in each district. Every student belonging to poor and workers families should have access to higher education and become a doctor in the future. Therefore, the government intends to establish medical colleges across the State,” the Minister said.

Yadgir district, which was carved out from Kalaburgi district a decade ago, has got nursing course, and it has been planned to make the district a health hub in the future, Dr. Patil said and added that whatever basic needs were required would be provided to the patients coming here for treatment.

YIMS Dean V.H. Sandeep lauded the Minister for his encouragement and support in introducing the nursing course, and said that the YIMS had received sufficient grants from the government, and it had all become possible because of the support extended by the Minister.

MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur, Sridevi, Nawaz Umar, Siddesh and students from various districts were present.
