Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil on Friday warned of stringent departmental action against directors of government medical colleges and hospitals over recurring complaints of drug shortage, inadequate ICU capacity and poor sanitation.

Chairing a review meeting, the Minister referred to observations by the Karnataka Lokayukta and public grievances on the availability of essential medicines in hospitals under the department.
