Kannur: The Taliparamba sub-divisional magistrate has ordered the exhumation of the body of Irivery native Shanavas, 45, for a postmortem examination after his wife alleged that he died due to medical negligence.According to the complaint of Shanavas’s wife, her husband died following severe bleeding after a surgery for piles at Victoria Govt Hospital in Bengaluru. She lodged a complaint to the hospital authority. But they refused to initiate an investigation by Bangaluru police. After this, the woman approached the court seeking a detailed investigation. Based on this, the court ordered Taliparamba police to investigate the incident by conducting a postmortem.As part of this, police sought the permission of the sub-divisional magistrate to exhume the body, which was buried at the Iriveri Juma Masjid burial ground on March 16. Police will exhume the body by 7am on Tuesday, and it will be taken to Kannur Govt Medical College at Pariyaram for postmortem.
