A video has surfaced showing Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam trekking through a forest trail in Meghalaya—just hours before Raja was allegedly murdered in a premeditated plot involving his wife and her lover.

YouTuber Devender Singh, who was visiting the popular Double Decker Root Bridge in Cherrapunji’s Nongriat village on May 23, inadvertently captured the couple in one of his travel videos. Singh, who shared the clip days later after reviewing his footage, described it as the "last known video" of the Indore-based couple.

"It was around 9.45 am when we were going down and the couple were going up after staying the night in Nogriat village. I think this was the last recording of the couple and Sonam was wearing the same white shirt which was found near Raja," the YouTuber wrote.

In the video, Sonam is seen leading the way, carrying a polythene bag — possibly containing a raincoat — while Raja walks a few steps behind. "Raja looked normal, completely unaware of what was going to happen to him," Singh said, adding that the footage could help Meghalaya Police "connect the dots".

According to the police, Raja and Sonam had checked out from Shipra Homestay between 5.30 and 6 am on May 23 before heading towards the trekking route. Raja was allegedly killed later that day, with his body found days later in a 1,000-foot-deep gorge.

The couple had married in Indore on May 11 and arrived in Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21. They were reported missing from Sohra (Cherrapunji) on May 23. Raja’s body was recovered on June 2.

A week later, Sonam was arrested from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation, she confessed to the murder and named her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, and three others — Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput — as co-conspirators. All were arrested by Indore Police.
