Guwahati: The University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) announced the 8th edition of the North East Graduate Congress (NEGC) 2026, which will take place from March 26 to 28 on the USTM campus.The announcement came at a media meet at the Guwahati Press Club, where organisers outlined the details of the youth event, expected to draw thousands of undergraduate students from colleges and universities across the northeast.Those present at the press meet included Dr Mehzabeen Rahman, principal secretary, USTM; Dr Rashmi Baruah, associate professor of the department of business administration, USTM; Prof.

LK Nath, dean of the school of pharmaceutical Sciences, USTM; Prof. Gayatree Goswamee, dean, Prof. Qomrul Hoque of the school of education, USTM; and Syed Rejaul Ahmed, assistant professor of the department of the zoology, USTM.NEGC is regarded as one of the largest gatherings of graduates in the northeast and serves as a vibrant platform for young people to engage with leading academicians, educationists, industrialists, entrepreneurs and youth icons from across the country.

The three-day programme is designed to equip aspiring students through competitions, knowledge-sharing sessions and interactive forums that encourage leadership, creativity, innovation and career preparedness.Another key feature of NEGC 2026 will be the Zubeen Garg Fellowship, introduced to honour exceptional young talents from the region.“The Congress will feature a wide range of literary, cultural, creative and sports competitions, including quiz, debate, photography, on-the-spot painting, business ideathon and innovation-based contests.

Attractive cash prizes worth nearly Rs 50 lakh will be awarded to winners across various categories, encouraging students to showcase their talents and competitive spirit,” a press release stated.One of the main attractions of NEGC 2026 will be Bollywood Night, with performances by artists, including Madhubanti Bagchi, Aditya Narayan, Dharmesh Yelande, Lou Majaw, One North East Music Festival, and Hillphonic, adding to the cultural vibrancy of the event.
