Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Friday paid their respects at the coffin of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran, ahead of the funeral ceremonies scheduled to begin on Saturday.
Mufti became the only non-Shia politician from Jammu and Kashmir to be invited by Iran for the ceremonies. Khurshid, a former external affairs minister and head of the Congress party’s foreign affairs department, represented the Congress after Iran invited party president Mallikarjun Kharge along with Khurshid and Pawan Khera to attend the funeral events.
