US First Lady Melania Trump refuted a viral conspiracy theory that claimed her son, Barron Trump, applied to and was subsequently rejected by Harvard University. Nicholas Clemens, the first lady’s communications director, unequivocally dismissed the assertion as “completely false," stating, “Barron did not apply to Harvard, and any assertion that he, or that anyone on his behalf, applied is completely false."

The 19-year-old’s college admissions status has been the subject of intense social media speculation- amplified by Donald Trump’s repeated public criticisms and significant financial actions against Harvard.

Donald Trump vs Harvard

In the latest move targeting Harvard, Donald Trump withdrew an additional $100 million in federal funds. This new cut contributes to a staggering total of over $3 billion in grant and contract terminations from Harvard since the beginning of his administration. Beyond financial sanctions, the administration has also taken steps to restrict Harvard’s ability to enroll international students, measures that have prompted multiple legal challenges.

Barron Trump’s Education

Barron Trump, who graduated from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Fla., in spring 2024, recently completed his freshman year at New York University earlier this month. He is currently pursuing a business degree at NYU’s Stern School, with an anticipated graduation in 2028. Donald Trump earned an economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1968.

Earlier, Donald Trump said that several colleges had offered his son admission without disclosing which institutions. In a March interview, Donald Trump commented on Barron’s technological prowess, saying, “He’s got an unbelievable aptitude in technology. Barron is a very smart guy."

Barron Trump has also shown an interest in politics, making appearances alongside his father at campaign rallies and events during the 2024 election cycle. Earlier Donald Trump remarked, “He’s a little on the tall side… he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny."
