YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) alleged that the implementation of the MGNREGA had weakened in Andhra Pradesh over the past two years under the TDP-led alliance government, and said the slowdown had cut employment and wages for rural workers.
In a post on X, Mr. Reddy said the rural economy depended heavily on the scheme because it raised disposable income among rural households and lifted consumption. Andhra Pradesh had been among the best-performing States in implementing the MGNREGA, he said, but recent trends pointed to a slowdown.
