The Miami Heat center erupted for 83 points during a 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, placing his name among the greatest scoring performances the league has ever seen.

The message from Jordan was simple, as anyone would expect."Just congratulations," Adebayo said during a Wednesday appearance on NBA Countdown.
"Short and sweet. If you know Mike, he's not talking a lot."

Adebayo shot 20-of-43 from the field and knocked down seven three-pointers. The most striking part of the stat line came at the free-throw line, where he converted 36 of 43 attempts. Both numbers set a new NBA single-game record for free throws made and attempted.

After the game, Adebayo reflected on the moment and the mindset that helped him stay focused as the points continued to pile up."For me, it was just remaining calm, remaining locked in and understanding that I can go for something special," Adebayo said after the game, per Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press. "I didn't think it was going to be 83. But to have this moment is surreal, because like I said, man, to be able to do it at home, in front of my mom, in front of my people, in front of the home fans, this is a mark in history that will forever be remembered."Adebayo later explained when the magnitude of the night finally set in, “It’s one theng when you’re chasing it, and it’s another thing when it actually happens.”With nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks added to his scoring total, Adebayo delivered a performance that will remain part of NBA history for years to come.
