The legend vs legend fight is happening. The highly anticipated showdown between two boxing icons is still without a confirmed date. However, Mike Tyson insists the fight with Floyd Mayweather is moving forward. Despite shifting reports and outside speculation, the former heavyweight champion says fans should not doubt his intent to step into the ring again.Talks of the bout first surfaced in September 2024, with both camps agreeing to an exhibition scheduled for spring 2026. Since then, questions about location, timing, and even potential alternate opponents have clouded the picture. Tyson, however, has shared a promising update. The fight, he says, is still on.

Mike Tyson addressed the uncertainty directly when speaking to TMZ Sports. The former undisputed heavyweight champion left little room for doubt."Yeah, it's happening," Tyson told Babcock on Friday, reiterating ... "Yeah, it's happening!"The 59-year-old further shared that he never hesitated when Mayweather called him out. "You think I'd give that up?! I was minding my business! He challenged me!"The exhibition was first reported in September 2025, with both fighters signing to compete under CSI Sports and Fight Sports. While an exact venue has not been finalized, Tyson previously hinted at Africa as a possible location.
Physically, Tyson says he feels ready. He will turn 60 in June, yet he claims to be in strong condition after slimming down and sharpening his training routine.

The exhibition has been promoted as “Legend vs Legend,” pairing two of the most recognized names in boxing history. Tyson brings heavyweight power and decades of global appeal. Mayweather enters with an unbeaten 50-0 professional record and a reputation built on precision and defense.Tyson called the agreement historic. "This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen," he said. "However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can't believe Floyd wants to really do this. It's going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it's signed and it's happening!"

Mayweather also shared his stance, "I've been doing this for 30 years and there hasn't been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy," Mayweather said. "You already know that if I am going to do something, it's going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I'm the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want."He also acknowledged ongoing discussions about details. "There's been talks. There's been talks. It's possible," Mayweather told Babcock. Mayweather further stated that the fight will be exciting for fans, and everyone around the world is going to enjoy the fight.
