The 14th Winter Paralympic Games will officially begin in Italy on Friday, March 6, 2026, with a spectacular opening ceremony at the historic Verona Arena. The event marks a major moment for global para sport as 665 athletes from 56 countries gather to compete across six winter disciplines.

The Games will run until March 15 and feature 79 medal events. This edition also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Winter Paralympics.Hosted across the Italian regions of Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, and Val di Fiemme, the Milano Cortina Paralympics 2026 promise a thrilling show. The mascot for the Games is Milo, a brown stoat symbolising agility and resilience. A new event, wheelchair curling mixed doubles, will also debut at this year’s Paralympics.

The Milano Cortina Winter Paralympics will feature six sports over ten days of intense competition. These include Para Alpine Skiing, Para Biathlon, Para Cross-Country Skiing, Para Ice Hockey, Para Snowboard, and Wheelchair Curling.The Games will begin with the grand opening ceremony at the Verona Arena on March 6. The first medal events will take place on March 7 with Para Alpine Skiing Downhill and Para Biathlon Sprint races.
