US President Donald Trump said the United States would emerge victorious in its standoff with Iran, whether through diplomacy or military force. He also signalled a possible meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei if the agreement is sealed.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump suggested that the conflict could be resolved either through military means or diplomacy, as negotiations continue over a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending months of hostilities.

“We’re going to win one way or the other," Trump said, adding, “It’s going to be militarily or on paper."

The remarks came amid ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran over a potential deal that could bring an end to the conflict that has destabilised much of the Middle East.

Trump also said that the US will resume its military operations if American troops are killed.

“If they killed US troops, it would be a good reason to do so," he said when asked about the possibility of restarting military operations against Iran.

Trump Open To Meeting Iran’s Supreme Leader

Trump said he would be willing to meet Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded his father as Iran’s supreme leader.

“I don’t want to meet, but if I did meet, I’d be honoured to meet him," Trump said.

“But if we make a deal, it’s possible that I would meet him. I’d be OK with that."

Trump Claims US Could Seize Iran’s Enriched Uranium

Trump also addressed concerns about Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, claiming that the United States has the capability to take control of the material if it chooses to do so.

“We could get it right now. I don’t think they could stop us if we want it. But there’s no reason to," he said.

According to Trump, the uranium is currently “entombed" and under close surveillance.

“We have cameras on it," he added.

Key Conditions: No Nuclear Weapon, Hormuz Reopened

Trump said the two core elements of any agreement with Tehran are ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon and guaranteeing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

Trump’s Optimism On Lebanon

Trump said progress has been made in Lebanon, where fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has continued despite diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire.

“It would be really nice if Lebanon could have some peace," he said.

“Lebanon has been under attack for so many years and always like an underdog, and it would be really nice if it could end."

The US president informed that he had spoken with both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah representatives about the situation.

“I think progress is made," Trump said.

Iran Says Draft Deal Still Has Ambiguities

Meanwhile, Iran signalled that significant differences remain in the ongoing negotiations.

Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, said the current draft memorandum being discussed contains unresolved issues.

Speaking to Iranian state television, Rezaei said several elements of the proposed agreement remain unclear and require further clarification.

He also accused Trump of attempting to pressure Tehran into accepting American terms while leaving Iran’s own conditions insufficiently defined.

According to Rezaei, Washington is seeking to push Iran toward accepting its demands while keeping Tehran’s positions “in a vague state".
