KANPUR:In the Bangarmau area of Unnao, a tragic accident occurred early this morning on the Unnao-Hardoi road when a mini truck and a dumper collided head-on, resulting in the deaths of two drivers and a cleaner, who were burned alive.
The incident took place between four and five o'clock.
Both drivers and a cleaner perished in the fire, while another cleaner escaped by jumping out.Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze and recover the bodies after two hours of effort. The mini truck's driver, Mahipal from Gehre Ki Madiya in the Asmoli police station area of Sambhal district, and his nephew, Sonu, a cleaner and son of Shankar Singh from Fatehpur Uttama in Sambhal district, were transporting chemicals from Muzaffarnagar to Kanpur.
Both vehicles were reportedly traveling at speeds of 80-90 km per hour.The collision occurred at the Murray Company turn in Ganjmuradabad on the Hardoi-Unnao road in Bangarmau due to high speed, as the mini truck crashed into a sand-filled dumper coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so intense that both vehicles caught fire, engulfing the cabins in flames. Sonu, the mini truck's cleaner, saved himself by jumping out, while driver Mahipal, the dumper's driver Pawan Yadav, son of Babadin from Choura in the Bhognipur police station area of Kanpur Dehat district, and its cleaner Sumit from Jalaun were burned alive.
The police identified the three bodies, notified their families, and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. The accident caused a traffic halt, leading to a one-kilometre-long jam on both sides of the road. Traffic resumed around seven in the morning on Wednesday. Bangarmau Station Officer Chandrakant Singh reported that the site was cleared and traffic was restored after the vehicles were removed from the road.
