Minibuses flagged off in Ariyalur, Perambalur districts

Minibus services were flagged off on 31 routes each in Ariyalur and Perambalur districts under the new comprehensive minibus scheme on Tuesday.

Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar flagged off the services in Ariyalur. S.J. Chiru, Principal Secretary and Transport Commissioner; P. Rathinasamy, Collector, and K. Chinnappa and Ka. So. Ka. Kannan, MLAs, were present.

Mr. Sivasankar said that the 31 buses, including two new routes and 29 extended ones, would cover about 886 km in the district, he said. The new scheme, which allows operation of mini buses to a maximum permitted route distance of 25 km.

In Perambalur, Nilgiris MP A. Raja flagged of the minibus service. Mr. Sivasankar. Perambalur MP K.N. Arun Nehru, MLA M. Prabhakaran, and District Collector Grace Pachuau were present.
