Minister for Water Resources Duraimurugan on Wednesday held a review meeting with the Department’s Chief Engineers of various regions through video conference.
During the meeting, Mr. Duraimurugan reviewed projects being carried out across all regions, including flood mitigation works and preparations for the northeast monsoon. Of the 1,782 works announced so far, 1,007 had been completed and 775 were in progress, said an official press release.
He also directed officials to expedite 15 projects announced by the Chief Minister at a cost of ₹595.18 crore and 254 other works sanctioned for 2025-26 at a cost of ₹1,321.52 crore.
Further, the Minister directed officials to expedite the ongoing 12 flood mitigation works sanctioned in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts at a cost of ₹338 crore and complete them before monsoon. Senior officials of the department participated.
