Minister Ramachandran Kadannappally on Monday (March 2) inaugurated the Munderi Kadavu eco-tourism project at Munderi grama panchayat, marking the launch of development works at one of the district’s prominent bird habitats.
District panchayat president Binoy Kurien presided over the function. As part of the first phase of the eco-tourism initiative at Munderi Kadavu, beautification works, renovation of the existing entrance gate, landscaping, installation of direction boards, and creation of basic facilities, including a toilet block, bird-watching tower, bird den, and ticket counters, have been completed.
Avenue planting has also been carried out on both sides of the bund road. A total of ₹73.50 lakh has been sanctioned for the development of the eco-tourism centre, of which ₹29 lakh has been spent for the first phase. The project is being implemented by the Munderi grama panchayat through the Thenmala Eco-Tourism Promotion Society, a government institution.
