Minister Seeks SC-Monitored Probe Into Ram Temple Funds

Koppal: Medical education minister Sharanprakash Patil on Friday demanded a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the alleged misuse of funds collected for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, alleging that those who came to power in its name, have looted the pubic money collected for it.Addressing reporters here, the minister described the alleged misuse of funds not just as a financial scam but as a betrayal of people’s faith. He said the matter should be investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court.Drawing a comparison with historical temple plunder, Patil said that he sees no difference between Muhammad Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori who looted the ancient temples, and the BJP. However, he said his party has no faith in RSS’ stand and approach towards the Constitution.On the revision of the state’s guarantee schemes, Patil said the exercise could help save Rs 200-300 crore. He said the revision is being undertaken because benefits are being transferred to the deceased beneficiaries. Dismissing the BJP’s criticism, the minister said the opposition is making baseless allegations against the Congress govt due to internal differences.
