Minister for Industries and Food Processing, T.G. Bharath Gupta, on Wednesday directed officials to focus on patient care and infrastructure at the Government General Hospital in Kurnool, saying that the State government was providing all necessary facilities to strengthen healthcare services.

The Minister was chairing the Medical College and Hospital Development Committee meeting here and also reviewed the sanitation, equipment maintenance, and staffing issues.

Responding to complaints of money being allegedly collected at the mortuary of the hospital, the Minister said workers serving there voluntarily for nearly 15 years without salaries should be appointed as outsourced sanitation staff to address the complaints.

The Minister instructed officials to replace outdated air conditioners in the hospital in phases, operationalise seven oxygen plants established during the Covid-19 pandemic, and ensure regular maintenance of scanners and generators.

Mr. Bharath Gupta further instructed the officials to improve cleanliness, strengthen nursing services, and expedite shifting patient services from the old Sushruta building to the OPD block.
