After allegedly killing the three family members, he died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside the house, the police added.

In a shocking incident, a 34-year-old man allegedly killed his mother, grandmother and uncle with a sharp weapon before taking his own life in Bengaluru’s Kottigepalya early on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the accused, identified as Prashant, a driver, allegedly attacked his mother, Mangalamma (55), a garment factory worker, his grandmother, Nanjamma and his maternal uncle, Satish, with a machete at their residence.
City Deputy Commissioner of police (West) N Yathish said that the initial investigation indicated that the accused had been dealing with mental health issues.
“The probe indicates that he attacked and killed his mother, grandmother and uncle with a sharp weapon at around 7 am while his father was away from home. Neighbours rushed to the house amid the commotion and managed to overpower him and lock him inside a room before calling police," he said.
After allegedly killing the three family members, he died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside the house, the police added.
However, no death note was recovered from the spot.
Upon receiving the information, police teams, along with senior officials and forensic experts, reached the spot and gathered evidence. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations and later handed over to the family. A murder case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS.
‘Minor Arguments With Mother’
The accused’s father said he was unable to comprehend the incident. “My son used to have minor arguments with his mother, but there was no quarrel on Friday night," he said.
“Had I been at home, I don’t know whether he would have attacked me too. He was mentally stable enough to work as a driver. I still cannot understand why he committed such a horrific act," he added.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the incident.
