Minor girl found hanging in West Champaran, 1 held

Bettiah: A minor girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Rakhai village under Shikarpur police station area of West Champaran district on Friday, triggering allegations of murder by her family.Based on a written complaint, Shikarpur police registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against 11 named accused and 50 unidentified persons. The main accused, Istekhar Ansari, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.Narkatiaganj SDPO Jay Prakash Singh said the police received information on Friday that a minor girl had allegedly died by suicide in Ward No. 3 of Rakhai village.

A team from Shikarpur police station, along with forensic science laboratory (FSL) officials, reached the spot and began an investigation. “Raids are underway to arrest the remaining accused, and further investigation is in progress,” the SDPO said.According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father, Izhar Ansari, the incident was not a suicide but a murder staged to look like one. He alleged that a group of antisocial elements from the village forcibly brought a minor boy to their house and pressured him to confess to being in contact with the girl.“When the boy denied the allegation, both he and my daughter were dragged out, tied up, and brutally assaulted. My daughter was beaten to death, and her body was later hung inside the house to make it appear as suicide,” he alleged.
