'Mirai' has been performing incredibly at the box office, completing six days in theatres. Although the spotlight has been on Teja Sajja as the Super Yodha, Manchu Manoj has been receiving positive reviews playing the antagonist Mahabir.
Recently, he teased the possibility of his character's return in future installments of the franchise.During a chat with Hindustan Times, Manchu Manoj shared that his son Dhairav, who is young, asked him many questions after seeing the movie. "My son asked if Rama killed Black Sword. I said, 'Did you see him die?' He said, 'No, but there was a blast,'" Manoj recalled. He even teased that the makers did not explicitly show whether the arrow was hit on Mahabir's leg or his head.
"There are still so many unanswered questions," he added.
Grandhas made Mahabir unbeatable
Manoj also shared that audiences may have overlooked an important detail. "The nine grandhas make him unbeatable, as mentioned several times in the film. He should be alive because he already has the ninth book,” the actor explained. He added, "Ravana, who also had amrit like Mahabir, could not be defeated with a single arrow from Lord Rama. There was a whole war waged to defeat him. Even in Mirai, Shriya Saran and Jagapathi Babu’s characters talk about a war that hasn't happened yet."
Climax of the film
For the unversed, in the end of the film, the movie shows Vedha, portrayed by Teja Sajja, in the last battle with Mahabir, who gains the nine scriptures, making him nearly indestructible. When Vedha is expected to make a sacrifice, his weapon Mirai transforms into Lord Rama's renowned bow Kodanda, which helps him to shoot a divine arrow headed towards Mahabir. This leads to an explosion, suggesting that the villain might have perished, although the film does not show his death.
