Missing minor of UP recovered in city

Patna: Police rescued a 15-year-old boy, Radhey Shyam, a resident of Orai in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district, from S K Puri area of Patna on Sunday. The breakthrough came after Uttar Pradesh police alerted their Bihar counterparts about the missing minor, who was reportedly being held against his will in Chainpur locality of the city.Teams from the S K Puri police station and nearby stations were immediately dispatched to the location shared by the UP police. The boy was located and brought to the police station for questioning.During interrogation, Shyam said his father runs a vegetable business in Orai and he and his brothers help him manage the trade. He told police that he had come in contact with two youths from Chainpur in Patna and later accompanied them to their house in the city.

He alleged that after reaching Patna, the two youths detained him.SHO Jitendra Rana said the boy’s family, concerned after he went missing, contacted the emergency helpline 112 seeking urgent assistance. “They were initially connected to Patliputra police station and later to S K Puri police station. The police traced and rescued the boy on Sunday,” he said.“The boy later changed his initial statement. At first he claimed he had been kidnapped and brought to Patna. Later, he said he had voluntarily travelled to Patna on Saturday with his two friends, who then allegedly detained him by switching off his mobile phone and preventing him from leaving. It appears they are friends who had a dispute over some issue. The other two are also minors,” Rana told this newspaper.Patna police have informed the boy’s family in Uttar Pradesh about his rescue. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the two other individuals mentioned by the minor, police said.
