Craig Berube, who coached Mitch Marner in the 2024–25 NHL season, said the star forward never looked weighed down by his contract situation. Speaking on the hockey show, Berube explained, “No, I didn’t see it weighing on Mitch throughout the season. I thought he handled everything extremely well.”

Craig Berube did point to the trade deadline in March 2025, when the Toronto Maple Leafs were linked to a possible move with the Carolina Hurricanes. By the end of his run in Toronto, Marner had 741 points in 657 games and 63 points across 70 playoff appearances.
