MK Stalin's Son-In-law Sends Defamation Notices To 2 TVK Ministers, Warns Of Legal Action

TVK Ministers Aadhav Arjuna and CTR Nirmal Kumar were served the legal notices over corruption and tariff hike allegations.

DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son-in-law, Sabareesan, has issued legal notices to two TVK Ministers, including Aadhav Arjuna and CTR Nirmal Kumar, accusing them of making defamatory and unsubstantiated allegations against him.

Through his legal counsel, Sabareesan has demanded that both Ministers withdraw their statements and issue a public apology within 15 days. The notices warn that legal proceedings will be initiated if they fail to comply.

Sabareesan Demands Apology

According to the notice served on Aadhav Arjuna, the Minister made baseless corruption allegations during a media interaction. The notice claims Arjuna alleged that DMK Ministers had “collected money through corruption in all 36 departments" of the previous state government and channelled funds from 16 departments each to Udhayanidhi Stalin and Sabareesan, NDTV reported.

The legal notice also states that the remarks were widely circulated by several regional television channels and across social media platforms, where they reportedly received over four lakh views.

In a separate notice to CTR Nirmal Kumar, Sabareesan objected to remarks suggesting he had benefited from electricity tariff hikes implemented during the previous DMK government.

Corruption, Tariff Claims Challenged

The notice alleges that Kumar, while addressing the media, claimed the electricity department’s revenue, expenditure and borrowings had all risen during the DMK’s tenure. It further cites him as saying, “We have to ask the previous government ministers about who enjoyed the electricity bill tariff hike – whether it is a family or the son-in-law or the son."

Sabareesan has sought an unconditional retraction of the statements along with a public apology, stating that failure to do so within the stipulated period would result in further legal action.
